Speedfigs for #Lingfield & #Kempton 22nd Feb
A pleasing day at Southwell yesterday with 5 winners. Most of them favs but they still have to win! The NAP was pretty impressive and should be able to follow up.
Two meetings today. We start at Lingfield 2.50 with the David Evans trained Kings Wharf who looks to have an e/w chance at around 14/1. The yard are running into a bit of form now and the lightly raced gelding should go well if coping with the step up in trip.
In the 3.55 sprint over 6f I’m puzzled why Diamond Vine is running as he’s entered up into the Blue Square sprint series final here on Saturday. If he won today then would have to carry a 6lb penalty in that race which would be far from ideal. Maybe he’ll be a non runner but if he runs I’d be surprised if he were to win. That could leave the door open for top rated Catalinas Diamond who is just 3lb higher than when registering her first success over C&D last November for Steve Drowne. He’ll be looking for a repeat of that performance today and I can’t see her being out of the first 3 granted luck in running.
My main bet of the day goes in the 4.30 where Sweet Ovation (NAP) bids to upset the short priced fav Pale Orchid. She steps up in class but looks to have the scope to handle it, judging by the way she has won her last two races, winning going away from the field last time. The fav has finished 2nd on 3 of her last 5 runs, so is vunerable and doesn’t have the services of Luke Morris today as he is replaced by a 5lb claimer. I’m prepared to take her on at the prices.
