Speedfigs for #Southwell & #Wolves 8th March

March 8, 2012

A couple of nice winners yesterday, at good prices of 5/1 & 9/1 from the five highlighted selections. The NAP was a given a strange ride by Richard Hughes, maybe not have been good enough but perhaps could have finished closer than 4th.

Two meetings again today starting with the sand. The card is seriously lob-sided with the latter half pr0viding the best action. Myboyalfie (NAP) goes in the 4.30 and will be entitled to improve again for his recent win here, which came after a 5 month break. Therefore, the 6lb rise isn’t such a concern and shouldn’t stop him from landing the hat-trick today. His trainer (JR Jenkins) and jockey (Tylicki) both have good strike rates here and combine well together. The current price of 5/2 looks good value.

The next race is a competitive sprint and Motley Crew is taken to atone for his recent defeat at Lingfield when sent off at 1/7f. The performance was better than the bare result and many will quickly pass him over today.  He is a better horse at Southwell and deserves another chance here for his new yard. He was only beaten by 1/2 length off of a 1lb lower mark back in January in a apprentice race so should get involved off his current rating. His course record is excellent and reads runs 6, wins 2, and places 4. The 2 wins came over 6f and the 4 places were all 2nd’s over todays trip of 5f but horse is genuine and today he can strike again.

In the last race Tobrata looks primed to finally record that elusive win.
