Speedfigs for #Wolves 10th March

March 10, 2012

It’s Lincoln Trials Day at Wolves and their biggest day of the year.

As you would expect there are plenty of well rated runners taking part this afternoon.  Things kick off with the Listed Wulfruna Stakes over 7f. Clockmaker tops my figures on 112 and is respected but the horse I am most looking forward to is Belgian Bill (NAP) who has been out in Dubai. He doesn’t have a rating today but is well capable, as he showed last season at Royal Ascot when a close 4th in the Brittania. His runs since have been over 1m2f but he has failed to see this trip out after travelling strongly throughout the race. Therefore, the drop in trip today looks ideal and he will be able to sit handy from stall 3 and strike for home in the straight. He is proven on the surface, despite not racing on it, as Wolverhampton was where he worked as a 2yo when the yard were based near by.  If the race becomes tactical then having the champion jockey on board won’t do any harm at all. Expect a big run.

Henry Bee and Amitola both have small e/w chances in what are very competitive races. The maiden race at 4.05 looks easier to work out and Attain is the one to beat on ratings. The colt has run twice on polytrack at Lingfield and can put that experience to good effect on his 3rd start here. He is currently 2nd fav, behind an unraced horse from Marco Botti who is obviously fancied, but I always prefer experience in these types of races and especially when the selection is proven to act on the surface.

Next up Decider looks to follow up last week’s win in the claiming race. This race is tougher but he has a big speed figure of 122 and if repeating that performance will be bang there.
