#Speedfigs + Blog for #Lingfield 1st March

March 1, 2014

Today’s card at Lingfield is definitely a ‘game of two halves’ with the second half of the card seriously heating up.

Rowan Ridge is only 2lb higher than last time out when he was only defeated by a neck and ought to come on again fitness wise after missing all of 2013. He definitely would have needed his first run back in January after 13 months so his last run was a fine effort. He’s a C&D winner who should be capable of winning of a mark of 69.

The biggest ‘speedfig’ of the season award is handed to Picansort (NAP) who is 13pts clear of his stablemate and current fav Taajub who is 2nd top rated on 115. It’s fair to say that Picansort was the victim of a Shane Kelly special when given a shocker over C&D at the beginning of Feb. He shouldn’t suffer the same bad luck under the brilliant Andrea Atzeni this afternoon and can be held up from stall 9. He does take a 2 grade hike in class but has earned his rating today and is strongly fancied to make it win number 6 at the track.

Another big rating appears in the following fast track qualifier over 2m in the shape of Ted Spread, who is a relative outsider at 14/1 currently. That definitely looks too big to me considering his recent AW form. He was only beaten 1/4 length is a similar race last time where he was one of the first 4 that broke the track record, so I’m puzzled why he’s so big in price today, especially with Adam Kirby coming in for the ride. I’m happy to get involved e/w at double figures!
